JLofts Greenwich, whose sister property is the J House Greenwich Hotel, is moving toward its targeted July opening, according to Gateway Development Group President Jim Carnicelli.
“The construction process was great,” Carnicelli said as he stood in front of the nearly complete exterior glass and brick structure. “We’re obviously coming to the final couple of weeks.”
Industrial touches such as the exposed metal duct work add a trendy feel to the apartments, which is not common in the area.
“Architecturally, it’s a departure,” Carnicelli said. “You don’t see this contemporary, hip architecture in Greenwich.”
Carnicelli said the feel of the apartment building fits in with the modern style of Equinox next door.
The building, which broke ground in 2013, will house a mix of studios and one- to three-bedroom rental apartments. It will also offer six penthouses.
The apartments have 10‐foot ceilings and open floor plans. Each unit contains European‐style kitchens, wood floors, a washer and a dryer.
JLoft’s Director of Marketing and Leasing Elise Platt said a wide range of potential renters have already expressed interest in the apartments.
“The people we’re getting vary from relatively young — in their late 20s — to almost empty-nester age,” Platt said.
If tenants have dogs, the building can accommodate them, too.
“It’s dog friendly, which is really unusual in Greenwich,” Platt said. “It’s not only dog friendly, but we have a self-service dog spa."
The building appeals to young single individuals, those waiting to move into a house or those who need to move out of their house due to renovations, Platt said.
Rent ranges from studios available for $2,200 a month to a three‐bedroom penthouse with three terraces and roof garden that rents for $9,000 a month.
For those seeking a short-term living situation, JLofts offers three- to six-month leases and rental packages that include furniture, linens, dishes and tableware.
JLofts Greenwich is located at 16 Old Track Road in Greenwich.
